Famous Fifers to the fore at Methil Heritage Centre

An exhibition about the achievements of famous Fifers is a new attraction at Methil Heritage Centre.

Famous Fifers, Local Lives marks the contribution of notable people over the years, with a focus on the Levenmouth area.

Faces include the Cutty Sark’s first captain George Moodie, famous artist Jack Vettriano and spy-turned-novelist Ted Allbeury.

East Fife FC has also been selected as a subject and the ball with which they won the Scottish Cup in 1938 is a star item.

Club director Dave Marshall declared the exhibition open earlier this week.

Curator Janice Crane said, “Fifers are proud of Fife and with this exhibition Fife people and visitors from elsewhere can find out more about some of the people who have contributed to putting the kingdom on the map.”

Other exhibits include a Vettriano painting One Moment In Time and Alexander (Robinson Crusoe) Selkirk’s very own powder horn.

The free exhibition runs until Saturday, April 23.
