The public may have been revved-up for the occasion but a Kirkcaldy modified car show passed off without any incident, police have confirmed.
Thousands of petrolheads from all over Scotland descended on the town’s Esplanade on Saturday for the second 2Fife2Furious event.
Organised in tribute to the Hollywood actor Paul Walker, the Fast and the Furious star who died in a car crash last year, some of Scotland’s most cherished metal was on display, with some event taking their prize machines onto a designated skid pan.
However, despite the high-adrenaline mixture of petrol fumes and loud music, police said that Saturday’s event passed off peacefully and presented no problems to them.
“There was no trouble reported to us,” a spokesman told The Courier.“Everything from the event appears to have been fine.”
The Promenade was closed for much of Saturday as a mixture of exotic vehicles gathered at the waterfront.
Following last year’s event, organised with hardly any intervention from the police and Fife Council, strict rules has been put in place to deal with the huge crowds that descended on the Lang Toun.
However, the more formal nature of the event this time around did not seem to dull the enthusiasm of the public, with thousands of people gathering in an event that could arguably challenge the Links Market for its popularity.
It is estimated 1,500 motors were showcased in 2Fife2Furious, drawing between 4,000 and 6,000 spectators.
