Inspectors have been assessing a railway bridge after it was struck by a lorry. The removal lorry became jammed under the structure on Dunfermline’s Elgin Street shortly after 8.30am on Tuesday. Engineers from Network Rail arrived at the scene to check whether the bridge, which carries a freight line, had been damaged. The driver of the lorry, a Flemings of Rosyth removal vehicle, was unhurt but was suffering from shock, Police Scotland said. The collision was recorded by a dashcam video in the vehicle behind, and the footage was watched by thousands online before being removed. Spokesman for Network Rail Nick King said: “It’s a freight line, it’s not a passenger line so it’s not having any impact on train services. “We are waiting for police to get the vehicle removed and our structural engineers who are on site will check the bridge for damage. “Generally speaking, in these incidents it tends to be the vehicle that gets the worst of it.” Flemings of Rosyth confirmed the driver had escaped injury but declined to comment on the incident.
