The theft of tributes from the grave of a baby girl has been branded the “lowest of the low of crimes”.
Police are continuing to investigate the desecration of the plot of Elise Griffiths at Dunfermline Cemetery, after vandals last week stole and moved teddy bears and other items placed at her graveside.
Baby Elise was stillborn in August last year, but her plot has twice been targeted by criminals in the past 12 months.
The incident has caused great upset to parents Emma Tabb, 26, and Ryan Griffiths, 29, who last week told The Courier they are considering removing all tributes to their daughter from the site on Halbeath Road.
The couple, from Inverkeithing, described those responsible as “sick” a view shared by local councillor Joe Rosiejak.
“I just hope that somebody shops the culprits,” he told The Courier.
“It is the lowest of the low of crimes to steal something from a grave. It is a grieving place for the family.”
Elise’s parents had decorated their daughter’s plot on Saturday August 22, on what would have been her first birthday.
However, having been to visit the site last Tuesday evening, Mr Griffiths was horrified to find that vandals had moved or stolen some of the items place at the graveside.
