Taxi drivers in St Andrews have expressed concern about the erratic behaviour of some of the town’s cyclists, particularly foreign students.
At least one of the town’s cabbies has now written to Professor Louise Richardson, St Andrews University principal, about cyclists going the wrong way down one-way streets, with Market Street a particular danger spot.
He warns it could be “only a matter of time” before someone is killed.
A university spokesman said it “expects students to comply with the Highway Code”, adding additional steps to promote safety include organising visits to halls of residence by cycling organisation Cyclepath and a cycle safety poster campaign.
