The fight to save jobs at a Fife engineering firm will be taken to the Scottish Parliament this week.
Around 170 jobs are at risk at BiFab, which operates sites at Methil, Burntisland and Arnish Point on the Isle of Lewis.
A downturn in new orders, coupled with a decision by energy giant RWE to reassess plans for a major offshore windfarm, have hit the firm hard and placed the posts at risk.
Staff have been informed about the possible redundancies, although no decision is likely to be taken until details of a major, new offshore project are unveiled by the government this month, offering a potential lifeline for the posts.
Claire Baker, local MSP, will raise the matter at Holyrood this week, calling on the Scottish Government to assist BiFab in securing new orders.
She said: “The situation at BiFab is causing great concern for the current workforce and could potentially have a major impact on the wider economies in Methil and Burntisland.
“I will be calling for the energy minister (Fergus Ewing) to give his support to the workforce at BiFab.
“The energy park’s future is vital for the workers and the wider community. Nobody wants to see job losses and it is important we all work together to ensure that the Energy Park is a success.”
