A 68-year-old St Andrews man with health problems who had not been seen since Thursday has been found alive – after an extensive search.
John Wilson had been missing from his home in the Rose Lane area of St Andrews since around 1.45pm on Thursday, and police said his disappearance was out of character.
However, Police Scotland have confirmed that a search team found him at 4pm on Friday on a footpath in St Andrews.
He received treatment from the Scottish Ambulance Service and is expected to spend the night in hospital.
Officers thanked those members of the public and media who participated in the search.
Helicopters and lifeboats have been used during the search after Mr Wilson failed to return home, with family and police becoming increasing concerned for his safety.
