A pair of armed robbers who made their getaway on push bikes remain at large.
Police are hopeful CCTV footage will yield important clues in the hunt for the duo.
Officers have been scouring footage from the TSB Bank in Kirkcaldy’s Dunearn Drive but also what was captured by designated cameras placed elsewhere in the Templehall area following the shocking incident on Friday morning.
Two men threatened terrified staff with a handgun and a crowbar at around 10.40am and left with a four-figure sum of money by riding off on mountain bikes in the direction of Alford Avenue.
Despite police following positive lines of inquiry over the weekend, it is understood that no-one has yet been detained in connection with the incident although police insist someone in the Templehall community will have valuable information which will lead to their capture.
Chief Inspector Stevie Hamilton said he was confident the suspects will be brought to justice sooner rather than later.
“We are currently investigating the incident as you would expect with a number of different officers and assistance from across Police Scotland, speaking to witnesses and carrying out inquiries with regard to CCTV that is in and around the area,” he said.
“I believe that the people who are responsible will be caught and the answers lie in the local community.
“I would appeal to anybody who has information about the people responsible to come forward, and I would also appeal for any people who were in or around the area of Dunearn Drive or Templehall at the time to contact us.
“Officers will be carrying out extra patrols of the area, so anyone with any information can speak to them, call Kirkcaldy CID on 101 or ring Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
The two men police are hunting wore dark clothing, including black caps, at the time of the incident, and were said to be carrying green carrier bags.
The pair arrived at the bank from the direction of Alford Avenue and returned that way after the robbery.
The shops in Dunearn Drive, which include a supermarket, bakers, florists, Post Office and bookmakers among others, are likely to have been busy at the time and officers hope someone may have seen something that can aid their investigation.
