Bus fares are to rise by an average of 4.1% on Stagecoach journeys across the Mearns.

The company has advised the main reasons for the fares increase are inflationary pressures, including the price of diesel, and wage rises.
Stagecoach Bluebird has advised officers of its intention to revise bus fares by an average of 4.1% on commercial bus services on March 31 and requested permission to increase fares on supported bus services.
Fares were last increased on April 9 by an average of 4%.
Council officer Marion McKay said: “It is not possible to estimate the average cost rise for passengers as the council does not have access to the commercial trip data by fare band that is required for this calculation.
