Dalgety Bay dancing sensation Gymtasia Evolution are flying high after winning a place in the finals of Sky1’s Got To Dance talent show.

The gravity-defying group of 14, who are aged between 10 and 30, put on another dazzling display in the semi-finals, which were broadcast at the weekend, and are now honing a new routine for the live TV finale on Sunday at 6pm.

They have wowed the judges with a combination of daredevil throws and somersaults blended with graceful balletic choreography.

Gymtasia Evolution dancer Rachel Parr (16) said she was overwhelmed by the public’s backing.

She said: “We’re so thankful for the amount of support we’ve been getting. The local community has really got behind us and it’s so appreciated.”

The group was selected from gymnasts at Acrobay Gymnastics Club and trains at Dalgety Bay Sports and Leisure Centre. Its oldest member, and only male, is choreographer Neil Roberts.

Rachel said all the media attention had been “a bit crazy” but there were no nerves when it came to performing, only about what the judges might say.

She added: “We knew our routine was going to be OK but we were all very nervous about the comments we would get.”
