A social work employee who hurled sectarian abuse at a child has been fined £350.
Rangers supporter Fay Smith shouted the abuse at the child after hurling a plate at her partner during a domestic row.
Smith, 50, of Cairns Crescent, Perth, admitted behaving in a threatening and abusive manner at her home on July 13 this year.
She appeared at Perth Sheriff Court on Tuesday and admitted throwing a plate and shouting and swearing, causing fear and alarm.
Lisa Marshall, depute fiscal, told the court that a woman and her children saw Smith at around 11.30am, when she was “under the influence of alcohol and was going in and out of her house, shouting and swearing at her partner.
The depute fiscal said Smith then swore and used the term of sectarian abuse towards one of the children.
Defence solicitor Billy Somerville said Smith had money worries after being placed on a zero hours contract, adding: “There was a domestic, which spilled outside.”
He said Smith perceived the woman and her family “were interfering, although they were not, and the incident blew up. She totally regrets it and wishes to get it over with”.
