Two women accused of carrying out a brutal attack walked free from court after the case against them collapsed.
Yvette Hutton and Lana Robertson were found not guilty following a trial at Perth Sheriff Court that lasted only a matter of minutes on Tuesday.
The pair faced allegations that they attacked Karen Crowder at her home in the city’s Stroma Place in November last year. They were both accused of repeatedly punching and kicking the 33-year-old about her head and body, causing her injury.
Hutton, 39, faced a further charged that she struck Ms Crowder on the head with an iron. She was also accused of attacking Ms Crowder’s partner, Gary Graham, with an iron.
Depute fiscal Carol Whyte announced that the Crown was no longer pursuing a conviction against Hutton and Robertson, after hearing evidence from Ms Crowder.
The 33-year-old housewife said she could not remember what she was doing on the day of the alleged attack.
“I was quite drug-dependent at the time,” she told the court.
Hutton, of Mull Place, and 39-year-old Robertson, of Rannoch Road, were told by Sheriff Fiona Tait they had been found not guilty and they were free to go.
