Contentious plans to stage Scotland’s biggest music festival at a historic Perthshire estate have been lodged with council chiefs.
The future of widely popular T in the Park could hinge on the outcome of the landmark planning application which was submitted by organisers DF Concerts today.
The festival, which celebrates its 21st anniversary this year, was forced to quit its traditional home at Balado, near Kinross, amid healthy and safety fears related to a nearby underground pipeline.
Boss Geoff Ellis now wants to put on the show in the grounds of Strathallan Castle a move which has already caused divisions.
He confirmed that a bid for planning consent, along with an environmental impact statement, had been tabled with Perth and Kinross Council.
The public will get the chance to pour over the application when it is published online early next week as part of a 28-day consultation exercise.
All feedback will be logged and taken into consideration by planning officers when they make their recommendation to councillors in the coming months.
A decision is likely to be made in April.
Mr Ellis said the move to Strathallan will help deliver a massive boost to the area, with “minimal” negative impact.
The festival, which will be staged in mid-July, is expected to attract tens of thousands of music fans.
