A Perthshire firm has celebrated attracting its 20,000th thrillseeker with an expansion announcement.
Highland Fling Bungee saw 31-year-old care support worker Alison Laird make the milestone jump at its Killiecrankie site at the weekend.
Since May 2011, daredevils including brides in bridal gowns and the oldest bungee jumper in Europe have plunged 131ft from the Garry Bridge at 50mph.
The 20,000 jumps were split between Killiecrankie and the company’s other site at the Titan Crane in Clydebank.
Alison, who was watched by husband Matthew, received a prize pot worth hundreds of pounds for her milestone plunge.
She said: “I never knew anything about the 20,000 aspect so I was totally shocked when the crew asked me, straight afterwards, if I wanted to jump again.
“When I was on the edge of the platform I didn’t know if I would make it but the crew were great and I managed fine. It was a real adrenaline buzz.”
Highland Fling Bungee is now forging ahead with a project to construct a viewing platform at the river Garry site.
Managing director Murray Trail said: “The viewing area will have a target for completion of 2016 and is another element to our development.
“Reaching the 20,000 mark in November is ahead of expectations but really shows how popular bungee jumping has become.
“In terms of customers, the most satisfying thing for me so far has been the thousands raised for good causes through charity jumping.
“We have also had a lot of injured ex-service people who have seen it as a way of assessing, and even stretching, their limits as they plan their futures.”
The company became the first in Europe to operate commercial night jumps and introduced tandem jumps on Valentine’s Day this year.
West Sussex grandfather and Second World War veteran Bob Steele became the oldest bungee jumper in Europe when he took the plunge at Killiecrankie in 2013, at the age of 90.
