Trial of notorious serial killer to be recreated at Bloody Scotland festival
BySandra Gray
Authors Danielle Ramsa, John Gordon Sinclair and Alex Gray will be among those attending the Bloody Scotland crime writing festival this year.
Murder, mystery and mayhem are all on the menu for the return of Bloody Scotland.
The cream of tartan noir gathered at the Old Town Jail in Stirling to unveil this year’s programme. As the crime writing festival returns for a third year, organisers have launched a new event for bloodthirsty visitors.
The trial of notorious Scottish serial killer Peter Manuel will be recreated in the setting of Stirling Sheriff Court.
The play is based on the transcripts of the 1958 court case and will give people an insight into how he was brought to justice.
There will also be a crime writers’ football match, a real-life medieval murder mystery and an independence debate. The programme continues with more than 50 of the biggest names in crime fiction taking part in a series of events.
Bloody Scotland takes place in Stirling between September 19 and 21.
