A killer who murdered a Perthshire pensioner has been ordered to pay her son more than £86,000 in compensation.
William Kean was convicted to killing Jenny Methven at her cottage in Forteviot in February 2012.
Her son David who discovered her body in the home they shared sued Kean for the distress his mother’s death caused him.
During the murder trial, the killer claimed that Mr Methven was involved in the death of the 80-year-old but the judge rejected those allegations and convicted Kean of the pensioner’s murder.
The 50-year-old is currently serving a life sentence in prison and chose not to contest the action brought against him by his victim’s son.
At Edinburgh’s Court of Session, Lord Philip ruled that Kean should pay Mr Methven £86,184.
The money will be donated to some of Mrs Methven’s favourite animal charities in the Perthshire area.
