A cottage near Kinclaven was completely destroyed when an early-morning blaze ripped through the building.
Three fire crews were called to Woodfield Cottage near to the parish of Kinclaven when the alarm was raised at 1.38am on Wednesday.A fire service spokesperson revealed that no one was present in the building at the time of the blaze.
Crews from Dunkeld, Perth and Blairgowrie attended the scene as the flames spread. Firefighters used two hose reel jets to douse and finally put out the flames.
The blaze resulted in severe damage to the white-walled cottage, causing the entire roof of the structure to collapse.
Scorch marks could be seen on the interior walls of the building with the roof now entirely open to the sky.
The cottage is situated in a remote location, surrounded by fields and rolling hills, with no other residence within half a mile of the house.
Yesterday police officers and a fire investigation unit were at the cottage trying to discover the cause of the fire.
However, officers at the scene remained tight-lipped as to what started the blaze while they collected forensic evidence.
A Police Scotland spokesperson confirmed that officers were carrying out investigations into the cause of a suspicious fire at the scene.
