Major clean-up operation under way after Alyth flooding

A major clean-up operation is under way in Perthshire after flooding hit the town of Alyth.
Many homes and businesses were damaged by the high waters after the burn that runs through the centre burst its banks.
Locals are clearing up debris that was washed into the town centre by the deluge.
Several motorists were rescued from their vehicles as water rushed down the streets leaving cars piled on top of each other.Many homes and businesses have been left covered in mud after floodwater submerged buildings along the banks of the burn.
Hundreds of homes were left without without power while dozens of properties had to be evacuated on Friday.
Scottish Hydro Electric Power Distribution said more than 750 homes in in the area were cut off at the peak of the problems.
A company spokesman said a bridge over the Alyth Burn that carried cables was washed away.
