Police say there is significant concern for Robert McLarens welfare.

Police remain hopeful that a pensioner who has not been seen for more than a week will be found “safe and well”.

Officers have been scouring areas of Perth, including the grounds of Perth College, for any sign of Robert McLaren.

The 70-year-old was last spoken to on Friday February 19 and was reported missing from Appin Terrace in the Letham area of Perth on Thursday morning.

Police Scotland are asking the public to assist in the search by checking sheds, garages and outbuildings for any signs that someone might have taken refuge, either overnight or temporarily.

Officers are also scouring CCTV and carrying out door-to-door inquiries in a bid to trace the pensioner. They are asking businesses with private CCTV systems to assist with the investigation.

Police say there is “significant” concern for the Mr McLaren’s welfare.

A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: “Robert has connections to the Coupar Angus area and is known to walk in the area of Jeanfield Road and the North Inch, Perth.

“Officers are carrying out house-to-house inquiries and will be asking residents if they have any information that could assist them with their inquiries.

“Police are also identifying CCTV opportunities in the area and would welcome assistance from local businesses or residents who may have private CCTV.

“Local residents are asked to check sheds, garages and outbuildings for any signs that someone might have taken refuge, either overnight or temporarily.

“There are significant concerns for Robert’s welfare and anyone who knows him or has seen a man matching his description is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101.”

Mr McLaren is described as being 5ft 7in, of large build, has a pale complexion, and a balding head with short grey hair around the sides. It is not known what he was wearing at the time of his disappearance.
