Are you on the bride’s side(car)? Nurse turns heads on way to altar

A bride turned heads when she was married in Perth, but it wasn’t just her dress, flowers or hair that attracted the admiring glances.

Passers-by were also commenting on the unusual mode of transport Laura Williams had chosen to ferry her to the altar.

The 20-year-old roped in her classic bike nut dad, Tony Drake, and was driven 12 miles from her home near Foulis Wester to Perth Registry Office in a sidecar attached to one of his eight motorbikes.

The newly-qualified nurse selected a vintage BSA M21 in maroon and black and family members decorated it with a floral display and white ribbons.

Laura, who has been with new husband Ben since she was 16, said she was not content to settle for a more traditional form of transport.

She said: “There was no other option. I chose to have a motorbike and sidecar because my dad is an old motorbike fanatic and he has quite a few so we decided to do it because not everybody does that and it was a bit different.”

After the ceremony, Laura and Ben, 28, travelled to their reception in a 1958 Landrover.
