Vandals scratched phallic symbols on Perth cars

Vandals caused thousands of pounds worth of damage by scratching phallic symbols on cars parked outside Perth homes.

Eleven cars were vandalised and had their bodywork damaged while they were parked in an area known as The Glens.

It is thought the vandal or vandals struck some time between 8pm on Friday and 2am on Saturday.

Dougie Lawson, of Glentilt Terrace, said: “My neighbour got up in the morning and saw his car was scratched and told me to check mine. I found my car was scratched as was my stepson’s.

“They actually went into the drive of one of my neighbours and scratched his van and his 4×4. They put a score right along the side and drew a phallic symbol on it.

“It was seemingly a whole load of youths and there were cars vandalised in a few streets round about here.”

Dougie believed that the damage to his cars could cost anything from £500 to £2,000.

He continued: “It is my stepson’s first car. He’s just learning to drive and has not even driven it yet. He’s not got the money to pay for repairs.

“A guy down the road reckons his is going to cost about £4,000. It will need a total repaint because of the damage that has been done.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
