Thousands of miles covered by bank staff to aid CHAS

Employees at the Clydesdale and Yorkshire Banks have helped to raise £3 million for hospices across the UK, including the Children’s Hospice Association Scotland (CHAS).

They selected Help the Hospices as their charity partner in 2008 and more than 100 hospices have now benefited from their much-needed support.

In 2013 alone, they participated in runs, bike rides and treks covering more than 5,200 miles and also contributed 30,000 hours of their spare time volunteering for their local hospice.

Staff have now set themselves the ambitious target of raising a further £500,000 in 2014 to continue to support hospices in their invaluable work in local communities.

The beneficiaries have included CHAS, which runs the Rachel House Children’s Hospice in Kinross. It has received more than £72,000 from the banks over the past six years.

CHAS corporate and events fundraiser Anna Robinson said: “We’re truly grateful for the support of Clydesdale and Yorkshire Banks.

To have raised so much for hospice care is a very special achievement and we appreciate the extraordinary efforts that employees from across the banks have made to support us.”
