A Boring and Dull Day on the cards in Perthshire

A Boring and Dull Day will be one to celebrate on both sides of the Atlantic.
A Boring and Dull Day will be one to celebrate on both sides of the Atlantic.

A Perthshire village with a population of around 80 is to reach global status when a day is set aside to celebrate its ‘pairing’ with its American counterpart.

Politicians in America are taking their plan to make August 9 Boring and Dull Day and will take the proposal to the state Senate for approval, after agreeing to it at the Oregan House of Representatives.

Members of the Boring Community Planning Organisation agreed to the ‘pairing’ last year after being contacted by the Dull Women’s Book Club.

The Americans agreed to the move based on trans-Atlantic relations, tourism and humour. Villagers in Dull have already planned exchange visits.

Tom Pringle, secretary of Dull and Weem Community Council, said he was “delighted” at the announcement of Boring and Dull Day.

“It’s great for Dull to get such publicity,” he said.

The bill to have the Boring and Dull Day was proposed by Republican Bill Kennener and it will now be taken to the state senate.

Boring has around 8,000 inhabitants.
