Beleaguered Dunfermline MSP Bill Walker is facing new allegations of violence from his son.
Scottish Sun deputy features editor Douglas Walker called his estranged father a heartless brute who had wrecked his childhood.
In a highly emotive and personal account over the weekend, he said that to him Bill Walker is ”barely a human being.”
The 34-year-old recounted that one of his earliest memories was being dragged upstairs by his ”barbaric father” and being beaten, along with his two brothers, with a leather slipper because one of them had dragged a tree branch across the garden.
Likening him to Darth Vader and JR Ewing, he said he had been intimidated by him. Calling him callous, uncaring and bad tempered, Douglas claimed the MSP destroyed his mother with his ”lies, cheating and deception.”
Douglas claimed that by the time he was born the MSP was already having an affair, and when the couple finally split his father refused to pay child maintenance, lying about the true amount he was earning.
Only a few years later, the journalist recalled, he decided he did not want to see him any more and was originally embarrassed when his estranged father hit the headlines.
However, now he sees him as nothing more than a name on his birth certificate.
He said he was sickened by his ”audacity” to preach family values and called him deluded with no shame.
In another twist, the weekend saw claims that the allegations around Mr Walker’s turbulent private life where his three ex-wives accused him of domestic abuse spanning four decades had been made known to those in the SNP some time ago.
It is a major new blow for the former SNP member who was expelled by his party a fortnight ago amid a backdrop of allegations of domestic violence and rape.
When contacted at his home by The Courier, Mr Walker’s wife said he would not be making any comment.
But Dunfermline and West Fife MP Thomas Docherty again called for him to go.
”Day after day the revelations mount up about the disturbing and unacceptable past of this individual,” he said. ”What we are seeing again this weekend are the consequences of Bill Walker’s domestic abuse of his families.
”I believe that only a deeply disturbed individual would think that in the face of overwhelming condemnation they should arrogantly continue to pocket £60,000 when clearly they have lost the confidence of all elements of society.”
The new revelations come only days after the under-fire MSP admitted slapping one of his three former wives, but stressed it was done in self-defence. He told The Courier he had restrained his second wife after she lunged at him with an ornamental dagger.
Mr Walker maintains he is the victim of an orchestrated smear campaign. He insisted he would continue to serve his constituents.
The MSP has yet to announce if he will appeal the SNP’s decision to kick him out of the party. He has until the end of this week to lodge any appeal.
