An Arbroath paramedic facing allegations over 13 missing doses of a morphine drug has been struck off after a disciplinary hearing in Edinburgh.
Tristan Crumpton (28) was called to appear before a conduct and competence committee panel set up by the Health Professions Council, the body that protects the public from rogue health workers.
It is understood Mr Crumpton, who faced a number of accusations, had denied taking the drug himself.
The case against him alleged that on at least six separate occasions between July 6 and July 21 last year he falsely claimed to have given morphine sulphate to patients, and that on July 13 he recorded false details and forged witness signatures on a colleague’s morphine passport the document used to keep tight checks on the use of the drug to cover up the breakage of three morphine sulphate vials.
It was also alleged that while he was working at Stonehaven ambulance station three smashed vials were found and that his actions were dishonest and amounted to misconduct and as result his fitness to practise was impaired.
He received an 18-month suspension from his post after the allegations surfaced.
