‘Kirkcaldy man through and through’ Brian Lindsay

‘Kirkcaldy man through and through’ Brian Lindsay

The funeral takes place on July 26 of well-loved Kirkcaldy man and long-serving employee of DC Thomson Brian Lindsay, who has died suddenly at the age of 47.

Mr Lindsay, known locally as Parlo, lived in the Gallatown area of the town with his partner Jan. A “Kirkcaldy man through and through”, he attended Pathhead Primary School and Viewforth High School.

On leaving school he took up a post with DC Thomson in the circulation department, based in Kirkcaldy, where he worked before taking a job in the car garage at our Kingsway branch in Dundee.

He also worked as a delivery driver for Paul’s Fish & Chicken Shop in Kirkcaldy.

Paying tribute to his father, son Brian said, “He wasn’t just my dad, he was my best friend and life won’t be the same without him. He was also well known and much loved in the town so many people knew him and thought a lot of him.

“Ultimately he was a family man who also really enjoyed his work and leaves behind lots of friends from the chip shop and workmates from the car garage up in Dundee who affectionately called him The Fifer something he was always laughing about.

“His pride and joy was his car, which he was forever polishing. He also loved socialising and loved a bit of a sing-song on the karaoke.

“Those that knew him well will know how much he loved being the centre of attention and will also remember how crabbit he could sometimes be with folk he thought weren’t listening to him!

“My dad was a Kirkcaldy man through and through but he also loved going on holiday. He was always going to Turkey, and more recently to Spain, for short breaks whenever he could get the chance.

“It has been a difficult time but I would like to thank everyone on behalf of the family for their messages of sympathy and support which mean so much to us. We have also been touched by a Facebook page set up in his memory which has over 100 tributes on it.

“It describes him as a man that was truly amazing in every way, which he certainly was he will be sadly missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.”

Mr Lindsay is survived by his partner Jan (McMillan), his children Louise and Brian and his step-children Stuart and Ryan. He also leaves behind four grandchildren Kieran, James, Chloe and Aiden.

His funeral is at Kirkcaldy Crematorium on Tuesday at 11.45am.

All friends and family are invited to attend, and donations may be given to the British Heart Foundation and Cancer Research UK.
