Dundee will have been chuffed enough to extend their unbeaten run to six games at the weekend, and they will go into next week’s Scottish Cup tie with Celtic with nothing really to lose.
Performance-wise it wasn’t pretty, and Accies probably should have been on top going into the break, but Paul Hartley will have been heartened by the character his side showed to get something out of the game after going 1-0 down with five minutes left.
For me though, the game was just another example of how important a player Greg Stewart has become for the Dark Blues.
Hartley said afterwards that the club isn’t encouraging any offers for the forward, but Stewart’s actions on the pitch will certainly get him noticed.
Eyebrows may have been raised last year when it emerged that Dundee had made their move for Cowdenbeath’s shining star, but it has certainly proved to be a shrewd bit of business.
His tally of 14 goals for the season so far speaks for itself, but his all-round game is commendable and proves that he is flourishing at Dens.
