New boys Forfar Athletic are showing the rest of the second division the way as the league’s only side with maximum points after two games.
The Loons made a successful trip north to Balmoor where even a 10-man fight against Peterhead couldn’t stand in the way of their unbeaten start to the competitive campaign.
Boss Dick Campbell is delighted with his side’s opening couple of outings and in on-loan Dundee United youngster Dale Hilson he looks to have found a dynamo desperate to keep himself in the spotlight.
Graham Gibson fired the Angus outfit into an 18th minute lead before Hilson bagged Forfar’s second just before the half-hour.
But the second-half dismissal of Forfar keeper Scott Gallacher for bringing down ex-Loon Martin Bavidge outside the area spurred the Blue Toon and they clawed one back through Conor Gethins to make for a nervy finish.
Campbell had no complaints about Gallacher’s red card, but was happy with the way his men stuck to their game plan.
He said, “The ref called it right, so that put us under some pressure we could have done without after an excellent first half.
“I knew Peterhead would come at us after the break, but we stuck to our task and it’s another good result.”
He added, “It’s far too early to get carried away, but it’s still good to get points on the board.”
