Calum Elliot cleared to return to Dundee after injury scare
ByNews reporter
Dundee have been handed a big boost with the news that on-loan Hearts player Calum Elliot is set to return to Dens Park on Thursday.
The striker was stretchered off after just 30 seconds of his debut for the Dark Blues against Raith Rovers at the weekend.
It was feared that he had suffered a recurrence of the knee problem that required surgery seven months ago, and he returned to Tynecastle at the start of the week for treatment.
However, a scan has revealed there was no damage and Elliot has been able to walk properly in the last 48 hours. He is now set to rejoin the Dundee squad and could even feature against Morton in Greenock on Saturday.
Dark Blues boss Barry Smith said: ”The Hearts medical staff have had a good look at Calum and thankfully it isn’t as bad as it may have seemed at the time.
”It’s absolutely fantastic news for him and he’s going to come back to us on Thursday. I’ll have a good look at him in training then we’ll decide if he’s going to play a part at the weekend.”
