UPDATE: Dundee United receive league cash from Rangers
ByNews reporter
Dundee United have received one of the cash payments they were seeking from Rangers.
Already due £67,000 for their share of the gate money from their Scottish Cup meeting at Ibrox last month, the Tangerines had started moves to claim £18,700 owed for tickets sold by Rangers to their own fans for the SPL game at Tannadice on March 17.
The Light Blues’ administrators, Paul Clark and David Whitehouse of accountants Duff and Phelps, had paid the bulk of the money for the league clash in advance but they still had the final balance to settle.
United contacted the SPL on Thursday claiming the cash had not been paid. It is understood that action prompted a payment from the Ibrox club.
However, United are still pursuing the £67,000. The Light Blues have been told to settle the cup debt by the SFA or be hit with sanctions but a hearing into that matter was adjourned on Thursday without resolution.
