Arbroath 2 Nairn 1: Lichties boss unhappy at lowered standards

Arbroath manager Allan Moore was relieved his side managed to scramble into the next round of the Scottish Cup after overcoming an awkwardchallenge from Highland League Nairn County.

A first-half Paul McManus penalty and Scott McBride’s header midway through the second period seemed to put the Red Lichties on easy street, but Sean Webb’s late counter led to an anxious final few minutes.

Nairn also had a goal disallowed.

Moore said: “I sent the players back out on to the pitch at the end of the game so that I had time to calm down.

“Our standards dropped as we had five or six players who had an off-day but Nairn pressurised us into having an off day.

“I suppose, however, it’s a wake up call ahead of next week’s match against Queen’s Park.

“The game should have been dead and buried before half-time but we missed so many chances.

“But we are through to the next round, so I suppose it doesn’t matter how you do it so long as you get through.”
