Barrie McKay will not face his parent club on Friday.
Raith Rovers will be without Barrie McKay for Friday’s encounter against Rangers after it emerged that the on-loan winger will be unable to face his parent club.
The Stark’s Park side secured the 19-year-old’s signature with minutes to spare on deadline day, with the Ibrox youngster arriving in Kirkcaldy until January.
However, the terms of the loan agreement state that McKay, who has made 34 top-team appearances for Rangers, cannot play against the Gers leaving him sidelined for the Championship clash.
McKay is likely to make his Raith debut against Livingston on the following Saturday.
Rovers benefited from an oversight last term, with Hibernian failing to stipulate that on-loan Callum Booth would be unable to face his parent club in the event the sides were drawn together.
As it happened, the Fifers were handed a trip to Easter Road in the Scottish Cup fifth round, and Booth played a starring role for Raith as they knocked Hibs out of the competition.
However, there will be no repeat of that situation with McKay this week.
