Dunfermline's Ryan Thomson (left) rushes to celebrate his winning goal.

Dunfermline will travel south to face Ayr United in the tie of the William Hill Scottish Cup third round.

The draw, which was made at Hampden by former Scotland manager Alex McLeish, has pitted the League One-leading Pars against second-placed Honest Men in a contest that is sure to attract a big crowd to Somerset Park on November 28.

The sides met in the same competition two seasons ago, with the Fifers making it through with a 1-0 home reply win on December 4, 2013 at East End Park thanks to Ryan Thomson’s headed winner.

That victory, which followed a 1-1 draw in the first match, earned Dunfermline a clash against Rangers.

Raith Rovers, going well in the Championship, will also be hitting the road, journeying north to play Elgin City,

All the Angus teams will have to travel to play their ties.

Forfar will head to the national stadium to face Queen’s Park, while Arbroath will go across the Tay to meet Cowdenbeath at Central Park.

Montrose face either Highland League side Huntly or junior side Lothian Thistle away, while there will be another all-League One contest when Brechin go west to take on Airdrie,

East Fife will have to see off Stirling Albion before hosting Cumbernauld Colts at New Bayview.
