Arbroath 1 Stirling Albion 1: Substitute makes big impact
ByThe Courier Reporter
Kane Hester demonstrated exactly what is meant by the term impact substitute when he fired Arbroath ahead within seconds of taking the field as a replacement for Josh Kelly.
The 20-year-old, who has made 13 sub appearances for the Lichties in all competitions since joining from Arbroath Vics last summer, has played a grand total of three hours and 17 minutes and scored two goals, but has yet to start a game.
Hester’s strike came in the 70th minute and he had another chance five minutes later but chose to square the ball to Greg Rutherford, who shot into the empty net only to see the effort chalked off as he was deemed to be in an offside position.
Stirling delivered a sucker punch by immediately going up to the other end, where Darren Smith blasted home an equaliser from close range.
