East Fife player-manager Gary Naysmith is not overly interested in Albion Rovers securing the League 2 title at Bayview this afternoon as all his attention is going on ensuring that his side remain in control of fourth place.
Naysmith said: “Albion have their ambitions for this game and we have ours.
“Our aim is to be in fourth place and heading for the play-offs, and that will be the aim for the remaining weeks of the season.
“They are a good side,” he said.
“However, we beat them 3-2 at their place in our last meeting and probably had the better of things in a goalless draw at our place so we can go into the game with nothing to fear.”
The former Scottish internationalist is still rueing the 1-0 defeat from Clyde last weekend that allowed the four teams immediately below them to inch closer to stealing the last slot in the play-offs.
Naysmith said: “It was a real missed opportunity. We had a penalty when the game was goalless and missed it.
“Clyde did not have a shot at goal, but we lost to a header from a corner when our goalkeeper was fouled so it was a very frustrating afternoon,” he said.
“We now need to beat Albion Rovers to ensure that we keep hold of fourth place.
“They are a good side and a much better side when their player-manager Darren Young plays.
“They will be going out for the win that could see them win the title if Queen’s Park lose, but if we finish the day in fourth it will have been a good day’s work.”
The Bayview boss will name his side at lunchtime today as a number of players are carrying knocks from last Saturday’s game at Broadwood.
On-loan Hearts defender Liam Smith is the biggest concern.
