Eight East Fife players agree new deals

East Fife have confirmed eight players agreed terms with the club to stay at New Bayview next season.

Heading that list is Bobby Linn, said to have caught the eye of several clubs including Dundee, and who many thought would be tempted to leave the Methil side in the summer.

However, manager John Robertson has negotiated a new deal with Linn and the 25-year-old has committed to the Fifers for at least another season.

Striker Ryan Wallace has also signed on for next term after his release from Hearts, while keeper Michael Brown, defenders John Ovenstone, Scott Durie, David Muir and Stevie Campbell, and forward Craig Johnstone have followed suit.

Negotiations are continuing with other players.

The Fifers head north to Peterhead’s Balmoor Stadium this Saturday determined to keep their flickering play-off hopes burning for another week.

John Robertson’s men have been in great form and could yet find themselves in the top four come May 7, having gone unbeaten in their last five games.

A late Ryan Wallace strike was enough to see off Brechin City 3-2 in midweek and move the Methil side to within six points of fourth-placed Brechin with just three games left.

Victory for the Fifers today could see them move closer to the play-off spots.

Bayview boss Robertson said, “We now go into the last three games of the season with something to play for. But we have to keep as focused on Saturday’s game as we can.

“Peterhead are fighting for their lives and still looking to stay up, so we will have to be at our best again.”

The Fifers are again likely to be without midfielder Robert Sloan and striker Jim Hamilton.
