It is understood the lifelong Gers fan will be interviewed by the Ibrox club over the next couple of days. For their part though, the Dark Blues insist they have not received an approach for Gardiner. Even if Gardiner does leave, it could be a job that lasts less than a month due to the infighting at the Govan boardroom. The current regime face the prospect of being overthrown at an AGM on December 19. Rebels Jim McColl and Paul Murray have already lined up their own choice for CEO, and it isn’t Gardiner. Their favoured man is former Liverpool managing director Christian Purslow. For more on this story, see Wednesday’s Courier or try our digital edition.
