Dundee United loan signing of Billy McKay set to be completed
ByEric Nicolson
Billy McKay is on the verge of becoming a Dundee United player after agreeing a season-long loan switch.
A complicated process between United, Wigan Athletic and the player’s representative is nearing a conclusion.
United agreed a £200,000 transfer fee for the former Inverness Caledonian Thistle man earlier this week, as well as terms with the Northern Ireland international.
But the move stalled after McKay couldn’t agree a severance package with the Latics.
In order to secure Jackie McNamara’s number one target, United have settled on the loan switch.
Should the move prove to be a successful one, it could of course become a permanent transfer.
It now remains to be seen whether the paperwork can be concluded in time to allow McKay to play against Ross County tomorrow.
