Dundee United have suspended their director of youth Stevie Campbell.
The Tannadice club issued a statement, saying: “Dundee United can confirm an employee has been suspended pending an internal investigation.”
It is understood the employee in question is their youth supremo, who has played a central role in the development of young talents like Ryan Gauld and John Souttar.
He was told of the suspension before Tuesday night’s 2-2 draw with city rivals Dundee.
Campbell was not due to be a part of the staff present at the game, having stepped down from Jackie McNamara’s first-team set-up as part of the new deal which was agreed in the summer.
He joined the Tangerines from Inverness Caley Thistle in 2005, having been part of the Dundee backroom staff before moving to the Highlands.
