Chris Millar’s latest hamstring injury is expected to keep him out of action for a fortnight.

The St Johnstone midfielder broke down in training last week and missed Saturday’s defeat to Partick Thistle as a result.

And the prognosis post-scan could have been a lot worse.

Manager Tommy Wright explained: “Midgey has had a scan on his hamstring and will be out for two weeks. It is disappointing but hopefully we will have him back for the Hamilton game.

“I don’t know whether all the travel is part of the problem (Millar commutes from Greenock) but he has had it for the last few years.

“That’s three times he has had this issue and that’s about par for the course.

“We manage him as best we can and he works hard to try and prevent it.

“The original injury occurred on the back of playing three games in a week. We were down to 10 men in the Dundee United game and fatigue probably played a part in it.

“It’s disappointing he broke down but we just have to deal with it. Fortunately we have enough cover in there.”
