Dundee Stars player-coach Jeff Hutchins is still looking at options following Sunday’s 4-3 home defeat to Hull Stingrays.
That leaves Stars in second-bottom spot with eight points from 15 games and he is desperate to put a winning run together, with the Dundee side set to host bottom side Edinburgh Capitals on Saturday.
The Toronto-born forward gets his squad back on the ice and said: “I’m not really concerned about Edinburgh. I’m concerned about how we played against Hull.
“I’m extremely disappointed and I thought we were going in the right direction.”
Capitals coach Richard Hartmann eyed the basement clash against Stars and warned: “We’re looking to move off the bottom of the table.”
The Murrayfeld men prop up the Elite League and are a point behind Stars with a game in hand.
But forwards Jade Portwood and Greg Collins who are both in the club’s top six points gatherers were both hurt in Sunday’s home win over third-placed Nottingham Panthers.
Hartmann is desperate to climb the table and said: “We have a small squad and injuries are hard on us. Sunday’s win was a big boost to our confidence and proves we can compete.
“We started to play the way I want. That didn’t happen in Fife on Saturday (when Capitals lost 4-1).
“But they (the players) finally understood what I wanted and we got a result on Sunday. The guys played really well and it was a great game for us.
“I was really proud of the boys and happy that we took the points but we need to follow that up on Saturday (in Dundee).”
Meanwhile, Fife Flyers returned to training last night after a day off to prepare for Saturday’s visit by Braehead Clan after Sunday’s 6-1 defeat at Sheffield Steelers.
