Huge night of boxing planned for Dundee’s Caird Hall

A huge night of boxing in Dundee next month is starting to take shape, with home favourites ‘Iron’ Mike Towell and Ronnie ‘The Shark’ Clark headlining the bill.

The Caird Hall will be the venue for the forthcoming ‘The Pride of Dundee’ show on Saturday March 14, which is being presented by Saltire Promotions and Iain Wilson, who recently invested in the famous St Andrew’s Boxing Club in Glasgow.

And fight fans have been promised an excellent evening’s entertainment as several of Tayside and Fife’s hottest prospects are due to take to the ring.

Dundee’s own Towell will be looking to build on his undefeated five-fight professional record against an as yet unnamed opponent, having claimed the vacant British Masters Gold light-middleweight title courtesy of a points victory over Kevin McCauley in Glasgow last time out.

Clark, meanwhile, will be determined to bounce back from his points defeat to Craig Evans in London in November only his second loss in 16 pro fights.

Opponents have yet to be confirmed for both Dundee-based boxers, although a strong undercard featuring other local talent is likely to see tickets for next month’s Caird Hall event snapped up sooner rather than later.

Highly-rated Dundee super flyweight Jamie Wilson has four wins out of four to his name since turning pro, while Kelty fighter Connor Law, who narrowly missed out on a place at the Commonwealth Games, will also be in action and looking to make it three wins out of three.

Stirling’s George and James Thomson will also both be keen to build on their unbeaten records, and Inverness’ Andrew Mackay is due to make his professional debut on the Caird Hall bill.

Tickets are priced from £40 and are available from the venue, from the boxers involved, or by calling 0141 810 5700.
