Defiant Greig Laidlaw has insisted Edinburgh’s mauling by Munster will not knock them off their revival stride.
The six-try trouncing at Thomond Park signalled a tame end to the Gunners’ Heineken Cup campaign.
But skipper Laidlaw claimed his side will learn from the experience and step up their quest to climb the Pro12 table.
He said: “We let ourselves down and we let the Edinburgh jersey down, which is the most disappointing thing.
“But we can’t just stand there and let the feelings linger. It won’t have a bearing on the rest of the season.”
Laidlaw was backed up by coach Alan Solomons, who said: “Every time you sustain a loss like that, it’s a knock.
“But we went down by a similar margin to the Ospreys and to Ulster and we bounced back. You have to see it in context.
“It’s a knock to our self-esteem but there’s no reason for it to affect us. The odds were heavily against us at Thomond Park against a Munster side playing for a home Heineken quarter-final.”
Meanwhile, Gunners scrum-half Sean Kennedy has switched to London Irish on a one-month loan deal.
* Edinburgh forward Cornell Du Preez has been cited by the European Rugby Cup for his clash with Munster’s Paul O’Connell during Sunday’s Heineken Cup match at Thomond Park.
The South African was sin-binned after English referee Wayne Barnes ruled he had led with the head after battering into the Irish second row during a ruck during the first half of the Pool Six match
The complaint was made by the match citing commissioner Yves Thieffine. The hearing will take place in Dublin on Thursday.
