Milestone at Methil: SHI said commissioning is in the final phase, and they will then begin type testing for certification.
The Fife-based project to build and test the world’s largest wind turbine has reached a milestone after the machine’s blades turned for the first time.
At 7MW, the Samsung Heavy Industries prototype turbine off the shore at Methil is the most powerful machine in development.
An SHI spokesperson said: “We are pleased to confirm installation of the blades at our offshore prototype turbine is complete and people can now see the blades turning.”
