‘Just devastating’ Family’s shock after Monifieth mum’s sudden death

A mum-of-one has died just two months after being diagnosed with lung cancer.

Heather Faulds, of Monifieth, was diagnosed with cancer in March and had a lung removed at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary on April 23.

The 49-year-old BT call centre adviser was recovering well and, after a week of recuperation, was staying with a friend in Stobswell when she became unwell on May 11.

A doctor visited her the next day and that night she was taken to Ninewells Hospital. Just hours later her heart stopped twice but she was brought back both times.

Her son Barry, also of Monifieth, rushed to the hospital, but his mum’s heart stopped a third time with doctors unable to save her. The family said doctors have told them they will never know for sure why her heart stopped.

Barry, 28, said: “To see her one day looking well and then a couple of days later she passed away it’s just devastating.

“She will be sorely missed and she always helped others. There’s a lot of elderly people around her home in Monifieth and she would get their shopping for them and she donated a lot of her own wages to Cash for Kids.”

Heather’s funeral will take place at Dundee Crematorium on Friday at 2pm.

Those attending are asked to wear pink her favourite colour and any donations will go to Cash for Kids and the Marie Curie Cancer Care.

She also leaves behind her three brothers Ian, Jackie and Billy.
