A Dundee mum is suing a doctor after her son bled to death on her kitchen floor.
Dorothy Davidson, 54, is taking legal action against Dr Ussamah Al-Hussein at the Court of Session.
It is understood that the case centres on a claim that her son Craig, 28, was misdiagnosed.
The Charleston mum found Craig dead on the floor at their home in May 2012 after he suffered a ruptured spleen.
Craig, who played football for Tayside Fire Brigade FC, had visited Ninewells Hospital after complaining of a sore neck and stomach following a match with his side in Invergowrie.
Dorothy says he was sent home after being told he was suffering from muscle injuries, and he was given painkillers.
However, within hours, the pain had worsened and he spent much of the night vomiting and struggling to breathe.
Dorothy called NHS 24 and said two doctors were sent out.
However, she claims that nobody spotted his condition instead diagnosing him with anxiety.
Hours later, he was found dead on the kitchen floor by his mother.
She said: “The doctors were examining him and he kept telling them he was worried about his breathing.
“They said it was anxiety. They gave him an anti-sickness injection and we hoped he would get better.”
Dr Al-Hussein did not respond to requests for comment.
