The Lady Boys of Bangkok generated so much heat in Dundee the Caird Hall had to be evacuated and the fire brigade called.
The exotic entertainers were near the end of their Glamorous Amorous performance on Sunday evening when the fire alarm sounded and the 600-strong audience were ordered to leave.
Two units from the Scottish Fire Service’s Blackness Road station raced to the scene when the call came in about 9.25pm.
They checked over the hall and found nothing amiss but traced the cause of the alert to artificial smoke from a smoke machine backstage.
It had drifted upwards during the show to trigger a smoke alarm, meaning the entire venue had to be emptied.
A spokesman for the city council said the Caird Hall was evacuated for about 10 minutes, after which the audience of about 600 were allowed back in and the show restarted.
The venue attracts regular shows where artificial smoke is created but the spokesman said Sunday’s episode did not mean the alarms were set too sensitively.
The Lady Boys of Bangkok are appearing at the Adam Smith Theatre in Kirkcaldy for three nights from tonight.
