Dozens of businesses operating in Dundee and Angus are set to showcase their wares at a major event at the Caird Hall next week.

Students, jobseekers and members of the public are being urged to pop along to the Business Showcase event between 1pm and 5pm next Wednesday to learn more about firms on their doorstep.

The spotlight will be thrown on all sectors of the local economy through the 60-plus stands at the Dundee and Angus Chamber of Commerce (DACC) organised show.

Among the businesses attending the event, which The Courier is supporting as media partner, will be Angus Autogas Conversions, Avian Communications, Biffa Waste Services, Design in Action, Dovetail Enterprises, Galloway Group, Mint Accounting, Robertson Collaborate, Shackleton Technologies, Struan Toyota, Time Lifestyle Boutique and digital app developer Zudu.

There will also be a strong focus on economic development, training and upskilling at the event, with Business Angus, Craigowl Communities, Business Gateway, Dundee and Angus College, the Al-Maktoum College of Higher Education and Inspirential Limited all having signed up.

DACC CEO Alison Henderson said the showcase, which is being sponsored by GS Group, was an opportunity for businesses to make and renew connections.

However, she said it also provided local jobseekers and members of the public the chance to interact directly with the companies and institutions that shape the local economy.

“The showcase is an event that nobody can afford to miss,” she said.

“It is very seldom that such a fantastic range of companies and local training and education institutions come together under one roof.

“But it is even rarer for that to happen in an open and free forum where the public are welcome to mix and chat with local business leaders and gain an insight into what happens behind the doors of our offices and factories.

“For businesses, the showcase is a chance to gain contacts and secure new orders.

“For the public, it is a chance to better understand what the local business community is all about. And, you never know, there might even be the chance of making that contact that could lead to an exciting new career.”

A seminar on growth funding for business will take place in the Marryat Hall between 2.30pm and 3.30pm.

The event will cover all aspects of business finance from bank support to crowdfunding and feature input from guest speakers including Waracle’s Chris Martin, Genna Delaney of Genna Design, Simon Yeardsley of the Scottish Deli and David Hay of Allthings.
