NHS field hospitals supplied by Dunfermline fit-out firm

Deanestor record quarter

Dunfermline-based fit-out firm Deanestor has provided clinical equipment to three new NHS field hospitals.

Deanestor supplied a range of specialist clinical equipment including healthcare benching, drug cabinets, and storage solutions within a few days to Louisa Jordan Hospital in Glasgow.

Two projects were completed for principal contractor BAM Construct, including supplying a total of 12 lorry loads of specialist equipment to the Harrogate Convention Centre which was converted into an NHS Nightingale Hospital.

Clinical workbenches and modular storage units totalling 500 items were offloaded, unpacked and delivered just 48 hours after receiving each instruction. The firm also supplied items to the field hospital in Birmingham.

Managing director William Tonkinson said: “We were very pleased to be part of the fantastic work that has been under way across the UK to support our NHS.

“Our logistics, despatch and fit-out teams made these projects happen in just a few days and in some cases working over weekends.

“The level of collaboration and speed of each project was incredible and is a credit to everyone involved and the UK construction industry.”

Work has been continuing and accelerating on other Deanestor healthcare projects.

At the £350 million Grange University Hospital in South Wales, Laing O’Rourke made 384 new inpatient beds available a year ahead of schedule.

To help achieve this, Deanestor installed more 1,000 soap and towel dispensers and 263 PPE centres, and manufactured and fitted 48 pharmaceutical storage solutions, all in less than three weeks.

Deanestor’s furniture and fit-out services contributed to the early completion of 150 much-needed beds at Royal Liverpool Hospital.
