Renault has revealed the all-new second generation Captur.

Small SUVs are 10-a-penny these days but the Captur has always stood out from a crowded field thanks to its classy looks and comfortable drive.

The new model is again based on the Clio platform. This one is 11cm longer than the outgoing model, with a wheelbase that’s 2cm longer, which translates into extra passenger and boot space.

There’s also plenty of new technology, including a hybrid optionAmong the exterior design tweaks, the front of the Captur features new LED headlights, which will be standard fit across all trim levels. Other changes to the front of the car include a more angular bonnet and a restyled front bumper with new air intakes.

According to Renault, the new Captur can be chosen in 11 different exterior colours and four different contrasting roof finishes, meaning buyers can pick from 90 different colour configurations.

On the inside, there’s a smart new interior inspired by the latest generation Clio. A new 9.3in central display has smartphone compatibility and there’s a 10.2in display behind the steering wheel that replaces analogue dials. A floating centre console houses storage space and a wireless phone charging pad.

At a massive 536 litres, the boot is 81 litres bigger than the outgoing model. The rear seats slide forward and back to maximise legroom or boot space.

The plug-in hybrid version combines a four-cylinder 1.6-litre petrol engine and two electric motors with a 9.8kWh battery pack. It should be able to travel up to 28 miles on electric charge alone, meaning most people will be able to commute to work and back without having to use the internal combustion element of the engine.

There will also be the choice of three petrol and two diesel engines. . The new Captur is expected to cost from around £15,000 when it arrives in the UK next year.
